Behind the Stitch: A Day in the Life of Created Purposefully
Have you ever wondered what goes into making a handmade crochet plushie? It is so much more than yarn and a crochet hook. Every stitch is made with care, love, and lots of prayer.
Created Purposefully is more than a small business. It is a dream that God placed on my heart. I am a stay at home mom, a homeschool mom, and the hands behind every plushie you see in my shop. Every day looks a little different, but every day is filled with purpose.
Starting the Day
Most mornings start with quiet time and Bible study. Spending time with God helps me begin the day with a thankful heart. Before I pick up my crochet hook, I pray for my family, my business, and the people who will one day bring my handmade animals home.
After that, it is time for breakfast, getting everyone ready, and taking care of things around the house. Being a mom always comes first.
Homeschool and Family Time
During the school year, much of my day is spent homeschooling my children. We work through lessons together, read books, practice math, and enjoy learning as a family.
One of the biggest blessings of owning my own business is being able to stay home with my kids. My work fits around family life, not the other way around.
Time to Crochet
Once I have some quiet time, I grab my yarn and crochet hook. This is my favorite part of the day.
Some days I work on custom orders. Other days I make ready to ship plushies for my website or get ready for an upcoming vendor event. I also spend time testing new ideas and creating fun new animals.
Every stitch is made by hand. There are no machines making these plushies. Each one is carefully crocheted from start to finish.
The Work You Do Not Always See
Running a handmade business is about more than crocheting.
I answer messages, pack orders, update my website, take photos, write blog posts, and share new creations on social media. I also keep track of supplies and plan for future products.
There is always something to do, but seeing a happy customer makes it all worth it.
Why Handmade Means So Much
Every plushie has a story. It may become a child's best friend, a birthday gift, or a keepsake that brings back special memories.
Knowing something I made by hand will become part of someone's life is one of the greatest blessings. That is why I put so much care into every stitch.
